Sucessful Presentations Begin with the Introduction

Michelle~
Thanks for introducing my speech today. It felt great to be so well introduced!
~Julie

Toastmasters.org says introductions help bring smooth transitions to our meeting. As a speaker you can write your own introduction, or leave it to the person introducing you. Either way the info conveyed to the rest of the group should include:
  • Speech topic and title
  • Manual and project title
  • Assignment objectives
  • Speaker’s personal objectives
  • Delivery time
Try 30-60 seconds in length.

how should we keep in touch ?

For practical reasons, What is the best way for us to contact you at the end of each week ? email, phone, other ?
For example , we need to let each member & guest know that we're Meeting this Tues 09-22-09, @ 7 PM @ Madonna Rehab hospital , in the Sheridan room. We'll help with the speech contest and learn from the Lincoln Area leaders. Then Sept 29 we'll do the first demo meeting of the Speechcraft course, at Anderson Library, to help our new Toastmaster Listeners, Learners, Speakers, and Leaders, at our local Club level.
Thanks, Ken D

Fall Conference

Notes from Jean:
Oh my goodness. The conference is just around the corner: Friday evening, October 9; Saturday all day and evening, October 10. I have my sleeping room reserved at Mahoney State Park (Thurs, Fri, and Sat). I have turned in my registration. If you turn in a full registration now or before our September 22 division contest, the cost is $60. After that the prices will escalate. You will love this conference and get a taste of a Toastmasters conference. WE will be hosting the spring conference here in Lincoln.... I will need your help on that. Of special interest to all Toastmasters: International Speech Contest Winner Jim Key will be at the conference Friday night and Saturday. You will want to be there to hear him.
I will see you all in two weeks.
Jean

Ken's Victory

I picked out a motivational poster to commerate your accomplishment.
Monday evening I went to the Area 21 and 22 speaking contests. I was proud to cheer on my father as he won the table topics contest for our area! Truely, it was one of the most creative and telling table topic answers that I have ever heard. Mark you calendars for Sept. 22nd to watch him at the division C contest. It is 7:00pm at the Madonna Rehab Center - Sheridan Rooms, 5401 South Street Lincoln, NE. This is during our regular meeting time. Next meeting we can discuss how to reconcile this time conflict.

Good Luck with Division C's contest Ken!

Table Topics: A chance to test out exactly how creative you can be with the truth. Here's to you:

Membership Survey

At our next meeting I would like to get a survey of people's interests. The purpose is to help steer our club's educational portion of the meetings to meet individual's goals and interests. To keep this from taking time during our meeting, you can print the survey and bring it filled out to our next meeting, Tues. Aug. 18th. Here is the link to the survey. Otherwise, you can fill one out at the meeting.

Internal Club Website

This is a possible website for internal club topics. Here we can post anything from photos, notes, schedules, and social topics too. Conducting official club business should be left to the meeting. Please leave comments! Anyone in our group wanting to post can build a blogger account and be added to this blog.

Why Blogger? I didn't think the provided resources from freetoasthost.com were as fast and user friendly. It seems that blogger is already used by most people, or can be quickly learned.

Security notice: just note that we will use first names, but no other contact information for security reasons. Remember, this is a publicly viewable website.
